Your Lafayette credentials consist of your NetID and password and allow you to access most IT services. It is imperative that you do not share your credentials with anyone, including family members or colleagues, or reuse your password for any other website.

A  password management utility allows you to change or reset your password, set and update your recovery email, and request a guest wireless account for a visitor.

Change Your Password

ITS recommends you change your password every three to six months in addition to any time you think it might have been compromised. Guidelines for creating a strong password are available.

Set or Reset a Password

If you need to set a password for the first time, or if you don’t remember your password and need to reset it, you can have a password reset link sent to your recovery email if you have one set. All incoming first-year students have recovery emails set by default.

If you are a student who needs a reset but are not on campus and do not have a current recovery email set, please contact the Office of Advising at 610-330-5080 for identity verification. If you are an alum without a recovery email, please contact Alumni Engagement at 610-330-5040 or alumni@lafayette.edu.

Using Two-Step Login

Two-step login, also known as two-factor authentication, protects your Lafayette NetID by adding a second step when authenticating to applications that use Web single sign-on (SSO). It provides an additional layer of security so attackers can’t access protected systems using only your password in the event it is breached.

Manage Your RECOVERY Email

The password utility allows you to reset a forgotten password. This feature requires that you have a recovery email set. The recovery email you set will not be used for any communication other than for sending the password reset link. Please update your recovery email if you no longer use the email account for the recovery email you set.

Manage Your Alumni Email Forward

Lafayette College offers vanity email forward addresses to alumni. Messages sent to your @alumni.lafayette.edu email address are forwarded to the target email you specify. Alumni can manage their alumni forward through the password utility.

Guest Wireless Accounts

Guest accounts provide wireless network access for 72 hours. Students, faculty, and staff with Lafayette NetIDs can self-create guest wireless accounts. Hosts are responsible for the conduct of their guests. You should only create guest accounts for people you know and trust.

Sponsored Accounts

Sponsored accounts provide access to IT resources, including the wireless and wired computer networks. Sponsored accounts are for those who are not employees but have an ongoing affiliation with the College that requires access to additional services. Sponsored accounts are valid for a maximum of one year but can be renewed. Only Lafayette employees can request sponsored accounts.

  • To request a sponsored account, please contact the Help Desk at help@lafayette.edu or (610) 330-5501.
